Homeowner Roof Plumbing Checklist

Fix leaks early to avoid expensive damage to fascias, eaves, ceilings, timber trusses and battens. Use this checklist to decide when to call a licensed roof plumber.

🧭 Gutters & Fascia

  • Sagging/backfall, water pooling, or overflow in normal rain
  • Rust at joints, staining on fascia/eaves
  • Brackets pulling or misaligned

If left too long: water damages fascias, eaves and ceilings.

📦 Box Gutters & Valleys

  • No visible overflow provision or undersized outlets
  • Debris build‑up, ceiling stains after heavy rain
  • Water marks on internal walls or soffits

If left too long: saturates insulation and timber battens/trusses.

🧱 Flashings & Penetrations

  • Loose screws, short overlaps, aged/cracked sealant
  • Skylight/chimney flashings not seated or tucked
  • Tile→metal transitions without tray/weep path

If left too long: leaks track into cavities and ceilings.

⬇️ Downpipes & Stormwater

  • Discharging onto ground or another roof surface
  • Too few downpipes for roof area; gurgling noises
  • Movement at joints or brackets pulling from walls

If left too long: backflow undermines footings; damages fascia/eaves/internal timbers.

We build to the standard

All roof drainage is designed and installed to AS/NZS 3500.3: Stormwater Drainage — correctly sized gutters/downpipes, compliant overflow paths and compatible materials.
